Portrait of a family of Eurasian Black vultures, also called Monk vultures or Cinerous vultures. The title comes from: “The family is a haven in a heartless world.” ~Attributed to Christopher Lasch. These vultures are considered in danger of extinction. I like the contrast between the seriousness of the two adults, and the demeanor of the infant.
